FSSAI lays down science-based standards for articles of food and regulates their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food to 130 crore citizens of the country. Safe & Nutritious Food (SNF) - A Way of Life
A bouquet of initiatives for citizens guidance and behavioural change. The authority has launched a series of SNF initiatives including @Home, @School, @Workplace and @When Eating Out with a 360-degree approach to food safety and healthy nutrition to prevent food borne infections and diseases and for complete nutrition for citizens everywhere.

The authority offers a fair opportunity to relevant stakeholders to participate in various draft notifications issued time to time. The objections or suggestions, if any, are required to be reviewed and addressed to the authority for effective consideration.

About FSKAN
A system of network of organizations with the aim to facilitate a scientific co-operation framework by the co-ordination of activities, the exchange of information, the development and implementation of joint projects within the Food Authority's responsibility FSSAI has established Food Safety Knowledge Assimilation Network (FSKAN).
Food Safety Display Board
There is a mandatory requirement of displaying FSSAI License Number at food premises. The FSDB will replace the current requirement in the Food Safety and Standards regulations which necessitate food businesses to display FSSAI Registration / license. FSDBs will not only make the registration/license number visible but will also inform the customer and the food handler about the important food safety and hygiene practices required to keep food safe. It will also provide details of various feedback options available to reach FSSAI.
Safe Water for Healthy Living
The purpose behind this unique project, lies in assuring clean packaged drinking water (free of harmful toxins and microbes) to 130 crore people across the country. The consumers have the right to know that the packaged drinking bottled water or mineral water they purchase is safe to consume and the portal helps in assuring the safety of water that adheres to strict quality assurance, through proper testing measures.

The Authority now has a comprehensive system of citizen’s concern management and a reliable 360 degree mechanism to deal with the consumer complaint redressal through various focal points including social media, emails, direct helpline, FSSAI mobile App and a dedicated concerned management website

Food Safety on Wheels
Testing of food to instil confidence amongst consumers that food is safe to eat is important part of the food safety ecosystem. However, number and spread of food testing labs in the country is grossly inadequate. While, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is working towards having more food testing labs both in the public as well as private sector, it has also initiated a scheme to provide mobile units for food testing to reach out to consumers through as many touch points as possible.
NMQS
A National Milk Quality Survey is being carried out across India covering all the States and Union territories in the country for assessing the quality of milk available to the consumers with focus on unsafe/adulterated milk. The milk samples are being tested for the Fat and SNF content and presence of 14 most common adulterants under a common SOP. More than 130 cities will be covered across 35 States/UTstaking approx.1700 samples. The survey is being carried out under the guidance of a State Level Steering Committee.
FOSTAC
FSSAI brings an easy solution of Training & Certification through its new initiative, that is FoSTaC. FoSTaC offers nine different types of courses meant for different types of food businesses on different competency level. FSSAI guides every food business operator to have at least one trained and certified person in their business premises to ensure food safety.

Foodborne diseases are an important cause of morbidity and mortality, and a significant impediment to socio- conomic development worldwide, but the full extent and burden of unsafe food, and especially the burden arising fromchemical and parasitic contaminants, has been unknown.

SWASTH BHARAT YATRA
Swasth Bharat Yatra, an outreach of 'Eat Right India' movement is a Pan-India cyclothon. 150 'Volunteer-Cyclists' along with the 'Eat Right Mobile Unit' and 'Mobile Food Testing Unit' would travel across the country over 100+ days to engage citizens on issues of food safety, combating food adulteration and healthy diets.
